How we handle the information you share with us through this website.
Last updated 3 October 2026
This notice explains what personal information Davinnette Forex Bureau Limited collects through davinnetteforex.com, why we collect it, and your rights under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. It covers this website only. When you visit a branch, the identification we are required to take for foreign exchange and money transfers is handled under the laws that regulate those services.
Who we are
Davinnette Forex Bureau Limited is a licensed forex bureau regulated by the Bank of Uganda and the Financial Intelligence Authority. Our head office is at Grand Imperial Hotel, Floor 1, Shop 4, Colville Street, opposite the Bank of Uganda, Kampala, Uganda. We are responsible for the information you give us through this website.
What we collect
When you send us a message through the contact form, we receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), and your subject and message. We also note the time it was sent and the internet address it came from, so we can stop spam and abuse.
When you browse the website, we count visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not identify or follow individual visitors. Like all websites, our servers keep short-lived technical logs for security.
We do not ask for ID numbers, bank details or card numbers through this website. Please do not send them in a message.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you the help you asked for.
- To keep the website and our customers safe, for example by blocking spam.
- To understand, in general terms, how the website is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies
We only use cookies that the website needs to work. They contain a random code, not your personal details, and are deleted when you close your browser.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Protects the contact form from spam and repeat sending. | Until you close your browser |
| dvn_admin | Keeps our staff signed in while they update exchange rates. Visitors never receive it. | Until you close your browser |
Because these cookies are strictly necessary, we do not ask for consent to use them. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but the contact form may not work.
Who else handles it
We use trusted providers to run this website and our email. They handle information only on our behalf:
- Namecheap, which hosts the website on servers in Europe.
- Cloudflare, which protects the website and delivers it quickly.
- Google, which provides the email inbox that receives your messages.
Some of these providers store information outside Uganda. We choose providers that keep it secure. We may also share information when the law requires it, for example with the Bank of Uganda, the Financial Intelligence Authority or law enforcement.
How long we keep it
We keep your messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for our normal business records, and then delete them.
How we protect it
The website only works over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access to our systems is limited to authorised staff, and we keep our software up to date.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you can ask us:
- whether we hold information about you, and for a copy of it;
- to correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- to delete information we no longer need; and
- to stop using your information for a particular purpose.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Office.
